We’re pleased to announce that Barry Road is scheduled for rehabilitation works to improve its long-term condition, resilience and reliability.

Construction is due to begin from October 2026 and is expected to take around 16 weeks, weather permitting.

The tender for the project is now closed and under review. Once a contractor is appointed, we’ll confirm the construction programme and provide more detail on how the works will be delivered.

Planned improvements will include earthworks, drainage enhancements, pavement reconstruction and stabilisation, and concrete works to provide a safer, more durable road.

The site is approximately 945m long and extends from the top of Barry Road through to Golden Valley Road, just past Boyd Road

Why we're doing this work

Parts of Barry Road have reached the point where they need more than routine maintenance. Rehabilitating the road now will improve its condition, extend its lifespan and help reduce the need for more extensive repairs in the future.

These works are part of Council’s ongoing investment in maintaining and improving our local roads, helping keep them safer, smoother, and more resilient for everyone who uses them.

During construction, residents can expect periods of increased noise and activity, as well as temporary changes to access and traffic arrangements, and possibly some delays while works are underway. We’ll make every effort to minimise disruption and maintain access wherever possible.
