We’re upgrading the Morgan Park football field, so it better supports football and community use.

Project outline

The work includes improving the main field surface, reshaping the bank between the main field and the old bowling greens, creating a new practice area where the old bowling greens were, and installing new lights for football.

Currently, Morgan Park does not have field areas that are correctly sized for football, and the existing lighting is too dim for good use. These upgrades will help make the field safer, more practical and more enjoyable for local football players and the wider community.

Project timeline

The upgrade is planned to take place in stages from October 2026 through to June 2027. Some parts of the project will involve short periods of work, followed by time for the grass to grow and settle. The main field turf work is expected to start in October. Lighting work is likely to happen around December or January, and final earthworks are expected around February or March.

Impact on the community

We expect disruption for neighbours and the public to be low. Most of the work will happen during normal weekday business hours. There may be tractors, excavators, trucks, trailers, rollers and other machinery on site at different times, depending on the stage of work.

For everyone’s safety, please follow contractor signage and keep clear of fenced work areas. This means people will not be able to walk dogs across the field or use it as a shortcut while areas are fenced off. We know this may be a change to normal routines, and we appreciate your patience while the work is underway.

The work will be carried out in stages, and we will share updates as the project progresses on this page. We expect the fields to be closed for grass growth – approx. five months.
