Ngātea Pool - Accessibility Ramp

Based on feedback we have received from users of the Ngātea pool, an access ramp is being constructed to enable an accessibility option for pool users. The new ramp access is being constructed for the main pool, which will lead from the poolside into the water providing safe pool access for wheelchairs and various disabilities.

The work on the ramp will start the week of 7 August 2023, and will take just over 2 months to complete. Work will be finished before the opening of the pool season in November 2023.

We have engaged Passive House Builders NZ Ltd to build the access ramp. They will be working between 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday; and 8am to 3pm on Saturdays.

We're putting the final touches to the accessibility ramp at the Ngātea Pool and it's on track for opening day on 11 November.

All the hours the team at Passive House Builders NZ Limited have been putting in at the Ngātea Pool are really showing.
The concrete has been laid for the Accessibility Ramp which will provide safe pool access for wheelchairs and various disabilities.
Before we know it we’ll be preparing the Pool for the summer season!

Our contractors, Passive House Builders NZ Ltd, have made a good start on the accessibility ramp at the Ngātea Pool.
The contractors have erected a temporary shelter and are working weekends to make sure the ramp is completed on time for the new pool season.
Digging the space for the ramp is almost finished, and the steel works including the handrail, will begin the first week of September.
