Pukekauri Road Pavement Rehabilitation

Work will resume this week on the section Of Pukekauri Road between Waitawheta Road and Hollis Road.

This section of road will be CLOSED to through traffic from the week beginning 9 September 2024. Pukekauri Road will not be accessible from Waitawheta Road end. Provision has been made for access for residents, emergency vehicles and school buses. Work is expected to be complete by mid-October.

Our contractor got most of the road rehabilitation on Pukekauri Road finished in May, but then winter hit! So, we've taken the expert's advice and postponed works.

The section between Waitawheta Road and Hollis Road is under a temporary 30 km/h speed limit and will be completed in September under a full road closure.

We understand that this is inconvenient for the residents and road users in the area, and we do appreciate your patience while we deal with this unavoidable disruption.

Work is well underway on the rehabilitation project to widen and resurface the 1.1km section between Waitawheta Road and Substation Lane.

As the road is down to single lane during the construction period road users will need to expect significant delays.

Please avoid the area if possible. Alternative routes are available via State Highway 2 and Waitawheta Road.

We've just had word from our contractor, Schick Civil Construction, that works are starting on Monday 11th March.

Works are expected to take 8 weeks with temporary stop-go traffic management in place on Pukekauri Road (from the intersection with Waitawheta Road to Substation Lane) from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday, and Saturdays 7am till 12pm, where required.

Please note, access to residents’ homes on Pukekauri Road will remain throughout the duration of the project.
