Next stop: a revamped Railway Reserve!
Paeroa's Railway Reserve Playground is due for an upgrade and expansion. In June 2025 we asked for our community's input to help prioritise what is included in this exciting playground upgrade before we can apply for external funding.
What has happened so far?
The project was included in the 2024-2034 Long Term Plan.
We have engaged with our local kura (schools) already to see what was important to our tamariki and rangatahi (children and young people).
We connected with the broader community to help prioritise the wish list through an online survey between 6 - 30 June and at two community events on Sunday 15th and 29th June 2025.
Next steps
We'll be consolidating the wider community's aspirations for the Railway Reserve. This feedback will support the concept design and priority ranking for the reserve that'll better support future funding applications in Phase 2 of the Railway Reserve Recreation Improvements Project.
We know from local kura (school) feedback that there are some must-have features:
A half basketball court.
Disability accessible playground equipment.
Scooter/Stop-Go track.
Placemaking and storytelling
Further updates will continue to be provided on this page and information circulated on the Paeroa Ward mailing list.
