This is the one stop shop to get all of the updates for the replacement of the buildings at Waihī Cemetery.
Last year the toilet at the Waihī Cemetery was vandalised by fire.
While the toilet has been removed, the fire also scorched the wall of the adjoining shed, which has now been painted.
Although you haven't seen much happening on site at the moment, there has been a lot going on behind the scenes sorting insurance and looking at how we rebuild.
Both buildings will be replaced with one which will include a toilet with external access for the public.
Electricity was removed from the building and demolition work is due to get underway by the end of February.
Once we have the approved building consent for the new building, we will be able to provide a date that construction will begin.
Temporary toilet facilities for the public will remain on site until the new building is opened.

As quick as that....the vandalised building has been removed.
It looks a little bare at the moment but before we know it the new shed will be up.
The new building will include a toilet with external access for the public but in the meantime the temporary facilities will remain in place.
