Road & Culvert Update - January 2026
The new culvert has been completed, and the road is now open in both directions.
Road upgrade works in the area have resumed, with stop/go traffic management in place.
The team is finishing the sub-base and will then apply the basecourse overlay. Weather permitting, the works are expected to be completed by early March.

Road Rehabilitation
A 1.5 km stretch of Trig Road North (from property #45 to just before property #186) will be widened from 4.8 metres to 6 metres, creating a safer and more user-friendly route. The work will include:
- Significant road widening and alignment improvement (including fencing relocation)
- Installing stormwater drains
- Building up the road base
- Final surfacing
When: Early to mid-October 2025 through to March 2026

Culvert Replacement
At the same time, we are also replacing an old, corroded culvert, located on Trig Road North around 250m from the Waihi Beach Road intersection. Its replacement will be a new, stronger concrete culvert that ensures the long-term safety and stability of the road. As this culvert carries a tributary of the Ohinemuri River, the stream will need to be temporarily diverted to replace the old culvert with the new one.
When: Mid-October to early December 2025 (about 8 weeks)
