We’ll soon be upgrading a 500-metre section of Waitawheta Road, with work planned to start in October 2025. The upgrade will run from just before the SH2 one-way bridge through to just past Pukekauri Road.
We’re currently in the process of appointing a contractor. Once confirmed, they’ll finalise the plans, traffic management and schedule so we can get this important work underway.
We know this is a busy area with lots of different users, so keeping everyone safe will be our top priority. There may be some disruption while the work is carried out. But access will be maintained throughout for residents, businesses and users of the Hauraki Rail Trail.
What's Next?
Once the contractor is confirmed, we’ll share more details about traffic management and what road users can expect during the works.
The project is expected to be completed by December 2025.
Check out our Antenno app and sign-up to stay informed. We will also keep you up to date right here.
