The Placemaking Plans have been adopted. Now it's time to do the mahi (work)!
We received a Better Off Funding package from central government to invest in the wellbeing of our communities. The plans showcase the aspirations of Iwi partners and the wider community for our public spaces in these towns. There are some exciting projects in the plans, which will show-case our local history and values, and help people express aroha (love) and connection to these towns.
We’re committed to working with local Iwi and the wider community to do the mahi together so we can turn our aspirations into reality.
We received a small amount of funding through the Better Off Funding package to go toward implementation of the projects in the plans and we have budget included in our Long Term Plan for some of the projects. However, we will need to work with our partners to source other funding for some of the work. You’ll see some projects take place over the next year (2024/25), while other projects will take longer.
If you or an organisation you’re apart of would like to be involved in the mahi please get in contact with us.
